Do Not Understand

The town of Arley, Meek High School and the surrounding areas are hurting.  While we know death is part of life, it is completely unexpected in someone as young as Amber.  Some of you may be trying to understand as to why this happened.  Truth is, I don’t know.  I can’t pretend to know what God’s plan is. None of us really know God’s plan, that is the hard part about faith.   The hard part about faith is trusting God in the lowest of the valleys.  We have prayed for the past several days and it was not the outcome we wanted.  While it may be tough to understand, I know those prayers were heard even though the result is not what we asked for.

I’m not a therapist so I know I can’t come up with the right words to help the hurting.  I do know that it is okay to cry, it is ok to be sad, it is ok to be mad, it is ok to want to be alone, it is ok to want to be around others and it is ok to even feel confused.  We are human and we all grieve differently.  Faith is relying on God to help us through this.  The first verse of Psalm 121 reminds us that our help comes from the one who created the heaven and earth….the one who created us.

There are few directions we can go when life gives us hard times like this.  We can look for earthly things to try and fill that giant hole in our lives or we can look to God.  We can agonize on trying to understand why or honor her memory with our actions. Honor her memory by making sure that today is the day you decide to get closer to Jesus.  Honor her memory by choosing today as the day you tell your friends, family and others about Him.  Today is the day you make changes in your life by submitting to God’s will.   I pray that as you remember Amber, that it reminds all of us that none of us are guaranteed tomorrow.

Make the hugs last longer and the times of anger shorter.

Continue to pray for each other and especially Amber’s family.  Love all of you!
