Life is full of emotions. Highs and lows. Peaks and valleys. The hits can come from anywhere….. jobs, friends, family, the most unlikely places and at any time. Sometimes life will hit hard. But to make it in this world we have to take some hits.
We help others with their struggles, sometimes by enduring it with them. But we pray for them to overcome.
At times we have to watch others suffer knowing there is nothing physically we can do to ease their pain. But we pray for their comfort.
We have to let our children fail, knowing it will break our heart and crush their confidence. But we pray the lessons learned will help build a foundation that will make them stronger.
We have to make decisions in a fog of confusion and fear that can affect the livelihood of our family. But we pray that after the fog dissipates we have a clear path.
We struggle with our own demons. Knowing we are all sinners. But we have a Savior!! And we pray for forgiveness.
Like a saying from my favorite character, Rocky Balboa…
“Nothing will hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you can hit, it’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward.”
Life hits hard, but we can absorb the blows and move forward by finding strength in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
To know Christ is to know the love of God.
There is a saying that rings true to me…..
No God, No Peace. Know God, Know Peace.
To know God loved me, and all of us, to give his son to cover us in all our struggles, our fears, our heartbreak and our pain, is peace that can’t be explained.
Suddenly life can hit hard and put things in perspective. It can be good or bad. Recently I went through both within a span of two weeks.
A week of watching my mom suffer and all I could do was pray. The outpouring of support and prayers brought me a form peace. Because I knew it was in God’s hands. Prayers were heard and answered! We are not alone through the power of prayer. What surrounds us as a result is God’s love. The power of prayer is real.
On the other side of the spectrum I got to watch my son who has struggled in pursuing to be an athlete but kept believing in himself. Never quitting, always casting aside the doubters, and finally getting a few nights where he shined. A night that was his, Twice!! The love his teammates, his coaches, his school and our community have for him was so great, they reacted as if the team won a championship. The crowd, his teammates, his coaches, the energy…. God’s love…. was something this ole soul needed.
Life hit suddenly on different emotions during those two weeks. But one constant is God’s love. The community that rallied around us during mom’s health scare was the same one that celebrated our son’s accomplishments. THAT was God’s love.
1 John 4:7-8 Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.
The one who does not love does not know God, for God is love.
Regardless of how life hit, God’s love was present. God’s love was felt. Peace…. was in God’s love.
